  • Egyptian Peas and Rice (Basila wa Roz)




    Ingredients
    • 1 medium onion
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 1 bag Cold Alex Frozen Peas and carrots
    • 1 can of tomato paste
    • 1 1/2 cups of water (add 1/3 more for a thinner sauce)
    • 1/8 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp black pepper
    • 2/3 tsp of cumin (whole or powder)
    • 1/2 tsp of thyme
    • 2/3 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 lemon

    Instructions
    1. Heat a frying pan on medium heat with 2 tbsp butter.
    2. Dice onion and sauté till light brown.
    3. Add olive oil and Cold Alex Frozen Peas.
    4. Sauté the peas for a few minutes with 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and a few dashes of salt.
    5. Add the tomato paste, water and stir till it becomes a sauce.
    6. Add in all your seasonings except the lemon. Simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
    7. Cut the lemon into wedges.
